Thus, a gigantic cavity of 10 hectares opens like a funnel on the heart of the volcano, thanks to the 11 levels of exploitation which cut the cliffs and reveal the colors and the strata.
During the route, there are successive views of the chimneys, geological treasures and breathtaking panoramas of the neighboring volcanoes of the Chaîne des Puys. It is the only volcano whose anatomy is so visible and highlighted.

Perched on the foothills of Sancy, Saint-Nectaire is an authentic Auvergne village, cradle of Saint-Nectaire cheese, coupled with a spa town erected in the 19th century. Forming the lower town, the villas and large hotels of the spa town stretch along the Courançon stream, dominated by Mount Cornadore which houses the old town of Saint-Nectaire le Haut and its Romanesque church.
Famous for its cheese which bears the same name, Saint-Nectaire is recognized as a Remarkable Site of Taste. Lac Pavin extends over an area of 44 ha. Embedded in forests and surrounded by superb rocks, it is one of the most beautiful lakes in Auvergne. This lake was formed in the crater of an old volcano (maar) from the eruption of Puy Montchal. Circular in shape with a diameter of 700 to 800 meters, it has a depth of 92 meters, making it the deepest in Auvergne
